The Boone Fork Trail is adjacent to Julian Price Park, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, just south of Blowing Rock. The trailhead is located near the Park Service bulletin board inside Price Park. Boone Fork Trail is a 5 mile loop trail that sometimes seems like 6 miles. If you are just starting out, I would recommend Price Lake Loop Trail, or Green Knob Trail first, then tackle Boone Fork another day. OK, it's not THAT bad, I just don't want anyone under-estimating the reality of 5 miles in the mountains! I love the Boone Fork trail. It is similiar in layout to the Green Knob Trail, only twice as long. You may get your feet wet crossing the streams on this hike, so be prepared! The highlight of this hike is the Boone Fork. Plunging from the dam at Price Lake, this is one beautiful river. Huge boulders and white cascades mark this as one of my picks! Again, be prepared for inclement weather anytime you're in the Blue Ridge Moutains, hypothermia is pretty easily brought on with inadequate clothing and quick temperature changes.

The purpose of this site is to share some photos, experiences and fun encountered while hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounding areas. I have found hiking in general to be one of the most exciting ways to spend a couple of hours, or a few days.
Calling home the piedmont of North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Mountains create a magical place, close enough to be convienent, yet far enough away to prevent familiarity. I have been visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains regularly my entire life, and have never ceased discovering new adventures. The trick is not aways finding new places, but more often discovering new aspects of previously visited areas. Sometimes a change in weather can shed new light on familiar ground!
Thanks for taking the time to visit and enjoy the scenery, now get away from that computer and head for the hills!
